Getting Clear on Your Marketing Before You Do Anything Else
A new year often brings a burst of motivation to "finally get marketing sorted." New platforms, new trends, new ideas… and suddenly everything feels messy and overwhelming. Before you post another Reel, redesign your website, or sign up for yet another tool, the most powerful thing you can do for your marketing is get clear.
Marketing clarity creates momentum. When you know what you’re working towards and who you’re speaking to, your content becomes easier to create, your messaging becomes stronger, and your marketing starts to feel purposeful instead of performative.
Too often, businesses jump straight into tactics like posting on Instagram, sending emails, or running ads without understanding why. This leads to inconsistent results, frustration, and the feeling that marketing just “doesn’t work.” In reality, it’s not the marketing that’s broken; it’s the lack of direction. You can almost guarantee that by March all these activities would have dropped off and the novelty has worn off and you are “just too busy” this will hinder your business more than you think.
Clarity means knowing what success looks like right now. Not forever. Not five years from now. Just this season of business. It also means giving yourself permission to simplify. You do not need to be everywhere or do everything to be successful.
When your marketing has a clear focus, it becomes easier to stay consistent, easier to measure success, and far less overwhelming.
Action Step 1: Write down ONE main business goal for the next 90 days (for example: more enquiries, more bookings, or more visibility).
Action Step 2: Choose ONE marketing channel to focus on this quarter and commit to showing up there consistently. Remember everything you do on this channel is related to your goal.
